Function was unfortunately not as expected. Generating an extra preview-JPG is not a good solution.

I can't really give an unbiased and proper review of the software, since it wasn't useable with my Sony Alpha images and the .ARW extension. I had to remove it and go looking for something else.

excellent functionality
My mother, who uses a PC was unable to view pictures on various press-release CDs from art galleries. I downloaded FreeRAW for her 9having tried something else that failed on its second use). It serves her purposes excellently. Many thanks

not a highlight
first: my download was fast and perfect. I'm using XP service-pack 3. I started to open jpegs. here the viewer works quickly, accurately and the thumbnails appear immediately. but for the CR2-format it needs long time to open the miniatures surely depending on the large size of my raws (about 15 MB). while searching the pics first the name appears in the window with the raw-format-ending .CR2. the bigger the content of a file - the longer the time it needs to open. when at last opening the thumbnails the fomat-name is changing to .CR2JPG(???). double-clicking a pic is opening the viewer. once opened the thumbnails the viewer seems to works rather fast - also in slideshow-mode. it's a pity, that there is no auto-turn-function for pics took in vertical format (as well for jpegs as for raws). I can turn them mechanical - each for each, but the programm doesn't remember that - so I have to turn again everytime I wanna regard. this is also a big disadvantage in the slide-show. all in all I would say the rawshooter is the better choice, because faster in opening and especially since with it the raws can be also adapted and treated.

Tried to use, but failed
I performed a standard install on a win xp pro sp3 platform as I wished to quickly set up a slideshow for a family party. The prog repeatedly crashed and so I uninstalled and used faststone imag viewer instaed. Would have liked to use your prog, but no time to deebug,

I downloaded this the other day. I had some trouble with getting it to work at first, but eventualy it correctly displayed all my photos, it is still a bit slow, but will do the job OK.

Didn`t work... Found MS viewer instead
This thing installed in a snap! But wouldn't work. Did another Google and found the MS makes one that is free, works with Canon and Nikon raw files and simply integrates with the Windows picture viewer so you can see jpg and raw in the same window.
Find it here:

Very Basic
Although this is what it says it is...a viewer with a slideshow option...it really could offer more features and perhaps a converter.
I'd like to see it offer some editing capabilities such as rotate with save capabilities (currently you can rotate but not save from what I was able to ascertain) and a cr2 to jpg converter (currently it makes a small lo res jpg thumbnail of the raw image only). It also wouldn't hurt if it had a print option.
I couldn't figure out how to stop the slideshow and wound up having to wait until it finished. Thank God I only had a few pics in that folder.
I haven't had a whole lot of time to play with it so maybe it does do more, but as I said in the title, it is a very basic viewer as it purports to be. I need a full blown converter to meet my personal needs.

A poor viewer
I don't want another photoshop but the thumbnails are so small and so poor that this Raw viewer is unusefull. So Raw viewer has been deleted immediatly afer the fist testing.

Nice idea but...
Has the potential to be a really useful program, the format and browsing method are straightforward and familiar. However, though it will preview raw files, it doesn't handle any volume of them well. When trying to view a folder with more than a couple of images it draws heavily on system resources, fails to open a preview of all but the first 5-6 images and freezes with error messages.

It meets expectations
The main reason I downloaded it was because a friend sent me a bunch of raw files from her Canon camera and none of my viewers would open them...
This one did the job beautifully. I only have one complaint and that is that it seems to want to become default viewer for everything without asking first...I have selceted programs I like for each of various filetypes. This is the only thing I can think of or have found wrong with it so far. It opened the files I needed to open and let me save to a format I could readily use to edit. You have an excellent product.
